March 2002 - US TOUR

Tuesday 5th March

So, five excited band members met at the Royal Oak in Roath, Cardiff at 8.30am. After loading up Mike Monk’s van with all our equipment we hit the road. Only to return once, this time to pick up Tim’s bag (inc his passport) which he left at the bar. Nice one Tim!

We hit Heathrow at 12.20pm and checked our gear in relatively quickly. We said our goodbyes to the two Mikes (Flynn and Monk) and headed for the bar. Two pints of Guiness later and we’re in the departure lounge for Taliban Airways, or Air Kuwait to be precise. It is like the Taliban Jolly boys outing. Nice curry though.

Got to JFK at 6.15pm (local time). Unfortunately, all our amps came crashing down the luggage rack. No fragile stickers! We complained!

John Mastro (US Manager) and Eric Arm (Tour Manager) picked us up in the van that would be our home for the next 5 weeks. Went to the Guitar Centre in New York, where Chris bought a new Fender Jaguar and Tony bought a new Strat for the trip. We then went to a cool bar called the Last Exit in Brooklyn. Stayed at John’s friend Jeremy’s house also in Brooklyn.

Good night,
Chris
